Yummy Restaurant Group was founded in 1986 by Peter Kim.  The family-owned business, headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii, prides itself in offering  quality food, great value and courteous service in casual surroundings.

By recognizing the potential of Korea take-out, a virtually untapped market, the first Yummy Korean BBQ was opened in 1986 at the Koko Marina Center.  The name was chosen to reflect the ethnic flavors of their dishes and to appeal to the tastes of residents and visitors alike.  Dishes were based on recipes that have been in the family for generations and were modified for mass production.

Over the years, the company has grown to include a portfolio of 9 restaurant concepts including two national franchises.  In 1987, Yummy Restaurant Group opened a Yummy Korean BBQ at the Makai Market Food Court at Ala Moana Center, one of the world's largest, highest-volume shopping centers.  During the first month of operations, Yummy Korean BBQ was ranked number one among all of the Center's restaurants in terms of total gross sales per square feet, exceeding the company's expectations.  It continues to maintain its presence as one of the highest grossing restaurants in the food court.  Yummy Restaurant Group expanded the mix of dining options at Ala Moana Center with the addition of four other restaurant concepts: Mama's Spaghetti House, Lahaina Chicken, Steak & Fish Co., and Cheeseburger Factory.

Using its success at Ala Moana Center as a springboard, Yummy Restaurant Group opened five concepts at one location when it assumed the operations of a food court on the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus in August 2004.  Yummy Restaurant Group continues to grow its restaurant concepts in prime locations with demographics that meet the company's goal.

OUR SUCCESS

Yummy Restaurant Group is build on a foundation of hard work and dedication of family members and employees.  The company attributes its success to providing value, fresh, quality food and outstanding service.  Yummy Restaurant Group rigorously maintains quality control to 1) Ensure customer satisfaction and 2) Ensure that a customer can patronize any Yummy operation within a restaurant cocept and expect the exact same taste, quality and quantity in the food being served.  Food service preparation, cleanliness and compliance with regulatory requirements are top priorities.

Restaurant concepts were selected based on the markets' needs and customers' tastes-capitalizing on traditional, home-style foods that ever go out of style.  All of Yummy's restaurants use only the freshest igredients, and food portions are ample and generous.

Menu selection, pricing, cost of goods, and other overhead expenses are carefully assessed, which  allow Yummy Restaurant Groupt to offer a wide selection of dishes at moderate prices.  Individual plates are in the $6.00 to $7.00 price range.  A Yummy customer knows he is receiving value for his money.  Says Peter Kim, "No one ever leaves our restaurant hungry."

Over the years, Yummy Restaurant Group has excelled at penetrating the food court market by opening and operating multiple restaurant concepts at one location.  It has successfully done this at Ala Moana Center, NEX The Mall at Pearl Harbor and on the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus.  At the Navy Exchange, one of the largest in the world, the restaurant company stratigically placed three of its stores (Yummy Korean BBQ, Chow Mein Express, and Subway) side-by-side.  This allows the three stores to share the same kitchen, and some of the kitchen staff, which cuts down considerably on operating costs.  Having restaurants next to each other in a food court setting is the ideal situation for the restaurant group.

As the company continues to grow and add new restaurant concepts, Yummy Restaurant Group maintains its commitment to offering customers the best value for their money for foods they love to eat.

Yummy Restaurant Group strives to provide an exceptional level of service at all of its restaurants.  Employees are trained to provide customers with a positive experience by providing fast, courteous and friendly service in a clean environment.
